The different Reiki Degrees

The first Reiki degree is the basic course and mainly aimed for healing the physical self. It contains four attunements during which the channels are opened. You will be taught how you can use these energies effectively on yourself as well as on family, friends, animals and plants. Besides you learn a lot about well-being, healing, energy balancing and how you can use Reiki with certain illnesses and as a means on the way to entity. During the 21 day following the attunement, you may notice your body go through a healing experience of some kind. When this takes place physically, you may experience symptoms of a cold, sore throat or minor skin irritations or you may notice emotions stronger than usual. The body adjusts to its new condition; some people find however, that this process may continue for up to three months.

Always remember you are a practitioner, not a healer and Reiki is always received, not given. You are a channel for this energy which comes from the Universe or Source.

The second Reiki degree builds on the first. It contains one more attunement. You learn a specific technique to treat deep emotional and mental problems, a technique for precise effective distant healing and techniques for your own growth and development. You will learn to direct energy to non-physical levels. During the 2nd Degree Reiki initiation, you will be taught how to use the first three symbols – the power, mental/emotional and distance symbol. They of course all use Reiki energy, and they allow you to focus more specifically on the needs of the recipient. The second level Reiki also increases your channel which means that more Reiki energy can flow.

A big part of the 2nd degree Reiki is about distance healing. You can now send distant healing to yourself and others, places or situations, in the past, the present or the future. Time and space are no longer barriers to healing.

The third Reiki degree (Master) is for personal growth and serves the process of personal growth and development. It is aimed for people who like to develop Reiki without the objective to become a teacher. The course comprises the entire activity of Reiki energy on a Master level.

The third Reiki degree (Master/Teacher) – Teacher training is the level of Master/Teacher. It comprises all the training you need to attune people to the first and second degree as well as leading Reiki seminars. The education finishes with the attunement to the third degree.

I personally think that it is very important for a teacher to have experienced a "class-room" training in order to pass on Reiki to others. Reiki is more than just an attunement and therefore I attune Reiki Masters only in personal workshops, but not over distance.
