Activation of the Seven Main Chakras

The best time to do the chakra exercises are in the morning ideally before breakfast, but never in the late evening. Before doing any work on the higher chakras you should spend several weeks balancing the lower ones. It is important to be grounded or work with the higher chakras can be dangerous. The most important is to listen to your intuition, because only you know what feels right.

If you suffer from any illnesses, emotional problems or are pregnant you should consult a doctor first to make sure these exercises are safe!

1. The Root Chakra

General recommendations:

  1. Get physically active. Exercise regularly.
  2. Become aware of your feet and legs. Go for walks, pour cold water over the feet/thighs.
  3. Search connection to nature. Spend lots of time outside, do some gardening.
  4. Treat yourself to quick daily reflexology massages.

Bach Flower Remedies: Clematis, Rock Rose, Sweet Chestnut.

Combining two or even all three of these essences, works really well for activation of the root chakra. However, you should start with only one essence.

Essential Oils: Clove, Rosemary, Cupressus

Either put tree to four drops in an incense burner or add three drops to one dessert spoon of body lotion or add some drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water.

Precious Stones: Ruby, Spinel, red Jasper, red Tiger Eye.

Affirmations:

  • I listen more to the needs of my body.
  • I feel my body consciously – whilst standing, sitting or lying
  • I trust in the power or nature.

2. The Sacral Chakra

General recommendations:

  1. Go regularly swimming and/or enjoy hot baths.
  2. Wear orange clothes or decorate your house with orange fabrics or flowers.
  3. Drink plenty – at least two litres of water.
  4. Go Dancing. Especially partner dances like Tango and Salsa, but also belly dancing activate the Sacral Chakra.
  5. Listen to oriental music or “flowing” music like Bach or Vivaldi.
  6. Go for walks in the moonshine or meditate about holidays on the seaside.

Bach Flower Remedies: Oak, Olive, Pine.

Combining two or even all three of these essences, works really well for activation of the sacral chakra. However, you should start with only one essence.

Essential Oils: Sandalwood, Myrrh, Bitter Orange and pepper.

Either put tree to four drops in an incense burner or add some drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water.

Precious Stones: Tiger Eye, Gold Topaz, reddish Tourmalines, Jade, Hyacinth, Fire Opal.

Affirmations:

  • I connect to my creative energy.
  • I accept and love my body and sexuality.
  • Life is a divine gift that I can and want to enjoy.

3. The Solar Plexus Chakra

General recommendations:

  1. Open up to the energy of the sun. Go sunbathing (in small doses!).
  2. Bring yellow colour into your life. Wear yellow clothes, choose yellow wall paper or put yellow flowers on the table.
  3. Meditate on the element of Fire. Sit on a chimney or campfire or light a candle.
  4. Make sure you are warm, especially in winter. Go to the sauna and exercise.
  5. Emotional music strengthens this Chakra. Choose pieces by Chopin, Schubert and Brahms or listen to soul if you prefer something modern.
  6. Learn to express your emotions. Take acting lessons or attend seminars on Body Language.

Bach Flower Remedies: Hornbeam, Imatiens, Scleranthus.

It is possible to combine two or even all three of these essences. However, you should start with only one essence.

Essential Oils: Lavender, Camomile, Anise and Lemon.

Either put tree to four drops in an incense burner or add some drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water. Incense burners work very well on this chakra and also help to balance the atmosphere around you. However, make sure not to flood the room with vapours, sometimes less is more. By no means should the incenses hinder your breathing.

Precious Stones: Citrine, yellow Jasper, yellow Calcite, Amber, Tiger eye, Chrysoberyl.

Affirmations:

  • I take powerfully and consciously my own decisions.
  • I use my personal power to help others.
  • I trust in my feelings and accept the abundance of life.

4. The Heart Chakra

General recommendations:

  1. Open up to nature. Spend lots of time in green areas like meadows or forests.
  2. Treat yourself regularly to massages or embark on Ayurveda.
  3. Wear green clothes or decorate your house with green fabrics and objects (like plants).
  4. Have a loving relationship to your partner, family and friends.
  5. Listen to light happy music, like for example Mozart, Hayden or Bach.
  6. Study the art of touch. Take part in a massage or Shiatsu course or learn Reiki.

Bach Flower Remedies: Red Chestnut, Chicory, Willow.

It is possible to combine two or even all three of these essences. However, you should start with only one essence.

Essential Oils: Rose, Jasmine, Vanilla, Tarragon.

Either put tree to four drops in an incense burner or add about 8 drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water.

Precious Stones: Emerald, Chrysoprase, green Tourmaline, Rose quartz, Malachite, green Spinel, Jade.

Affirmations:

  • I connect to all living creatures by the power of empathy.
  • I open my heart to give and receive love.
  • I love myself as I am.

5. The Throat Chakra

General recommendations:

  1. Look occasionally up to the blue sky during the course of the day, try to spend your holiday at the sea or by a lake.
  2. Brighten up your life with light blue clothes and jewellery, blue wall paper, curtains or carpets.
  3. Learn a new language or attend a rhetoric course. Singing lessons activate the throat chakra, too.
  4. Keep a diary. Put down on paper what you experienced, made you happy sad or encourages you. This helps to develop expressing yourself in writing and also when talking.
  5. Listen regularly to music with voices like choral or A-capella pieces.
  6. Learn to speak your mind. However, be always polite and stick to the truth.

Bach Flower Remedies: Mimulus, Agrimony, Cerato.

Essential Oils: Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Camphor, Ginger.

Either put tree to four drops in an incense burner or add several drops to the body lotion or add about 8 drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water.

Precious Stones: Aquamarine, Topaz, Chalcedony, blue Tourmaline, Turquoise, Azurite, Lapis Lazuli.

Affirmations:

  • I enjoy my creativity and ways to express myself.
  • I open up to the power of words.
  • I speak the truth and allow my words to come from my heart.

6. The Third Eye

General recommendations:

  1. Go regularly for walks at night. Enjoy the peace, quietness and power of the night whilst looking at the starry sky.
  2. Wake up your imagination. Read novels and fairytales.
  3. Wear dark blue clothes or use the colour in your house.
  4. Occupy yourself with wisdom teachings from the East and West. Read for example about Buddha, Laotse, Seneca or Schopenhauer.

Bach Flower Remedies: Crab Apple, Walnut, Vine.

These Flower essences should not be mixed, choose intuitively one of them and do not experiment with combinations for this chakra.

Essential Oils: Viola, Lemongrass, Cajeput.

Either put tree to four drops in an incense burner or add three drops to one dessert spoon of body lotion or add some drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water. With this chakra is also works to massage a drop of oil with your index finger on the forehead.

Precious Stones: blue Sapphire, Opal, blue Tourmaline, Sodalithe, Lapis Lazuli.

Affirmations:

  • I open up to my inner light.
  • I know that I have the answers to all questions inside me.
  • I contact my intuition and imagination.

7. The Crown Chakra

General recommendations:

  1. Go regularly for walks in the mountains and spend lots of time to look from the peak down to the valleys.
  2. Search for silence. It doesn’t matter whether through Yoga, meditation, Christian meditation or any other way – just try to relax.
  3. Work on your spirituality. Trust in your intuition on the search for suitable teachers to distinguish right from wrong.
  4. Wear white clothes, have white and violet colours in your house. For example bedsheets, towels, table-cloths, curtains, carpets etc.
  5. Have white and violet flowers on the table.

Bach Flower Remedies: Wild Rose, White Chestnut, Clematis.

Essential Oils: Boswellia, Geranium, Rosewood.

Either put some drops in an incense burner or add about 8 drops mixed in a bit of milk to the bath water.

Precious Stones: Diamond, Amethyst, Spinel, clear Tourmaline, Azurite, Gold.

Affirmations:

  • I am conscious.
  • I open up to the experience of pure being.
  • I connect myself to the light and the peace of the universe.
